Some countries are experiencing an increase in the rates of crime. Many people believe that getting more police walking the streets is the best way to prevent crime from occurring. Many people think that having one single fixed punishment for all crimes would be more effective. What are the advantages and disadvantages of having a fixed punishment? Some people think that giving harsher prison sentences and punishments is the best way to reduce crime rates, others however believe there are alternative methods that need to be explored.

Some people think that the best way to reduce crime is to hand out longer prison sentences, whilst other people think that there are better methods of doing reducing crime. Some people think that the government should be responsible for reducing crime, where as others believe individuals should take responsibility for their own safety and security.

Many criminals after being released go on to commit further crimes as soon as they are allowed out of prison. What do you think are the causes of this and what possible solutions can you suggest?

In some poorer areas of large cities people are too afraid to leave their houses at night time due to a fear of crime. What are the causes of crime in those areas and what can be done to tackle those problems? In many large cities around the world youth crime is growing at a fast rate. Crime rates in most countries are often higher in urban areas than in rural areas. What do you think are the reasons for this and what can be done to lower the crime rates?

It is thought that the increase in youth crime rates can be linked to an increase in violence shown in the media. Do you agree that this is the main factor causing juvenile crime and what ideas can you offer to deal with the situation? Many crimes are often linked to the consumption of alcohol. Some people think that banning alcohol sales would dramatically reduce crime.

Do you think it is an effective measure against crime and what other solutions can you suggest? Nowadays, children in some countries have less responsibility compared to children twenty years ago. Some people believe this is a positive change where as others think it is a negative change. In many countries women no longer feel as though they have to get married. Some people are of the opinion that this is due to the fact that women are able to earn their own salaries and therefore do not need the financial stability that finding a husband can bring.

Many problems are created when large amounts of foreign workers are recruited from abroad to fill positions in a small local community, this should therefore be not allowed to happen. These days people life expectancy is much higher, consequently there is increasing concern about how and who cares for the elderly.

Do you think it is the responsibility of the family to care for their elderly members, or should the government be held responsible? Skin whitening products should be banned from being sold as they have no place in a free and fair society. The migration or people from rural communities to large developed cities is increasing in many developing countries. One way to improve congestion in cities in cities is to introduce sky trains which travel above a cities roads.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of using this solution to solve congestion? In certain countries there is an increasing trend for people gain online employment. Private car owners should be taxed highly and the money invested in public transport in order to reduce congestion. In some countries a small number of people receive extremely high salaries. Some people believe this is a benefit for a country while others think that the government should regulate salaries and limit the salary that people can earn.

Banning cars from city centres would be an efficient way to improve congestion and traffic flow. Whereas other people feel that this is an unrealistic solution.

Human activity has damaged the environment all around the world. Some people think that humans cannot stop damaging the planet where as other believe that we can alter our behaviour and prevent future damage. Some people believe that the main factors influencing teenagers development these days are things such as television, friends and celebrities, others believe that the family still has more influence.

Getting good teachers to move to work in rural areas of developing countries is a difficult thing to do. This can mean the education of those in rural communities is not as good as it could be. Increasing the rate of tax and private vehicles could help to reduce traffic congestion in cities.

How could this alleviate congestion and what other measures can you suggest to deal with congestion in cities? Some people are of the opinion that think the key to success in business is to possess a unique product to sell. Some people are of the opinion that the higher the price of a product the more people will want to purchase it. To what extent does price influence potential customers and what other factors influence people when they are considering purchasing a product?

The main reason that most individuals owe money is because of the over and irresponsible use of credit cards. Banks should not hand out credit cards without being sure that person can pay them back.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of tourism to both individuals and society? Earning less money and having more free time is better than having more money and less free time. Some companies sponsor sports events in order to advertise themselves and some people think that is okay, while others think there are disadvantages to this. Some people believe that a countries economy will improve if people spend money where as others believe that it will only improve if people save money. Some people think that the current environmental issues that the world are facing should be dealt with by government whilst others feel it is individuals that should take responsibility for solving this issue.

Banning tourism would protect national cultures and would be a positive decision for governments to make, however some people feel that development is inevitable and there are no advantages to banning tourism. Children can learn effectively by simply watching television, therefore they should be allowed to do so to regularly at home and at school. Some people believe that it is not possible for a country to provide university places with high proportion to young people.

To what extent do you agree or disagree? Today, more and more students are choosing to move to other cities to have higher education. Do you think the benefits outweigh the drawbacks? Some people believe that teenagers should concentrate on all school subjects. Others believe that teenagers should focus on the subject that they are best at or that they find the most interesting.

Could you please provide me a link with these topics or a hint where to look for these? I actually have plenty of time, but am not allowed to fail getting a high band on Writing. My ielts test was last Saturday. In the writing section i wrote an agree and disagree question instead of a discussion question which was the question on the test. How will that affect my score.
